Terms of Service

Draft for review. Written to match what the app actually does, not from a template, but it is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. The governing-law and liability sections in particular should be checked before launch.

These terms cover your use of the Nook app and its servers. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not use Nook.

Who may use Nook

You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to online services on your own, you must meet that age instead.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
One person, one account. Do not impersonate someone else.

Room PINs and backup codes

We store PINs and backup codes only as hashes, which means we cannot recover them for you. If you lose the PIN to a room and have not set up a recovery contact or kept your backup codes, that room and everything in it becomes permanently unreachable. This is a deliberate part of how Nook works, not a fault, and there is nothing support can do about it afterwards.

What you may not do

Break the law, or use Nook to help someone else break it.
Harass, threaten or abuse other people, or send them content they have not asked for after being told to stop.
Share material that sexually exploits children. We report this to the authorities.
Distribute malware, or attempt to break into accounts, servers or other people's rooms.
Scrape the service, or drive it with automated tools in a way that degrades it for others.
Resell access to Nook, or work around its limits.

Your content

What you write and send stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service — to store your messages and files and deliver them to the people you send them to. We do not use your content to train anything, and we do not publish it.

You are responsible for what you send, and for having the right to send it.

Paid features

Nook may offer paid plans through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those stores handle payment, renewal and refunds under their own terms; manage or cancel a subscription in your store account. If a paid plan lapses, nothing you created is deleted — some features simply return to their free limits.

Ending things

You may have your account and its content deleted at any time by writing to support@nookmsg.com. A delete button inside the app is not built yet; until it is, the email route is the one that works, and we will not make you give a reason.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

The service is provided as it is

We work to keep Nook running and correct, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of faults. To the extent the law allows, Nook is provided without warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data you have not kept a copy of elsewhere. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Nook after that means you accept the new version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand, and disputes are subject to the courts of Thailand, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
